Resolved Question: Denver to Vegas in January? Fly or drive...?

We're planning a trip to Arapahoe Basin/Vail/Breckenridge in January, ending in Grand Junction to visit family. We then want to travel from Grand Junction, CO to Las Vegas, NV and are wondering if road are passable, etc, so that we could drive (we're East Coasters and want to see the sights). I was hoping to drive by Bryce Canyon, UT, but have no idea what the roads are like during this time of year. After Vegas, we (tentatively) plan to pass by the Grand Canyon, up through Santa Fe, pass by Colorado Springs, and fly home from Denver. Is this a feasible plan? Any suggestions for improvement?
